LONDON – In a shocking revelation, an NHS Trust in the UK has admitted responsibility for the deaths of three newborn babies, resulting in a hefty fine of £1.6 million.
According to British media reports, the tragedy unfolded in Nottingham, where three infants—Adele O’Sullivan, Kehlani Rossen, and Quinn Parker—died under the care of the NHS Trust in 2021. Following an investigation, the Trust acknowledged its failures, leading to legal action and financial penalties.
Reports indicate that this marks the first instance where legal proceedings have been pursued multiple times against a single NHS Trust. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has brought repeated cases against the Trust for lapses in patient care.
Furthermore, in 2023, the same NHS Trust was fined millions of pounds for failing to provide adequate care for Winter Andrews, another infant who tragically lost their life.
This latest fine raises serious concerns about maternity care standards within the NHS, prompting renewed calls for urgent reforms and improved patient safety protocols.
