According to British media, these fraudsters pose as bailiffs and threaten to seize household belongings due to unpaid debts. They also provide bogus local court numbers, urging victims to call for assistance. A fake court representative then pressures them into making immediate payments.
Reports in British media highlight incidents involving Paul from Northumberland and Victoria from Cheshire, who narrowly escaped being scammed due to their quick thinking.
In response, the Ministry of Justice has stated that making fraudulent calls while impersonating a bailiff is a criminal offense. They advised that upon receiving such calls, individuals should hang up immediately and contact the correct local court number.
