In the United States, the head of the Government Performance Department pointed out on Elon Musk’s social media platform X that the tech billionaire’s auto company, Tesla, has secured a government contract worth $400 million for the supply of armored vehicles.
According to U.S. media reports, the U.S. State Department is set to award a $400 million contract to Elon Musk’s company, Tesla. According to a Tesla investor, the expected date for awarding the five-year contract is September 30 of this year.
On his X profile, Sayer Merritt, a Tesla investor, revealed that the U.S. government is planning to award Tesla a $400 million contract to purchase armored vehicles.
According to Sayer Merritt, the State Department’s most recent procurement forecast, updated in December 2024, has designated Tesla as the primary recipient of this major expected contract.
Elon Musk’s auto company, Tesla, appears to be on track to secure a $400 million contract from the U.S. State Department, despite Musk’s stance as a supporter of federal budget cuts, given his position as the head of the Government Performance Department and his past close friendship with former President Trump.
Following the revelation of Tesla’s contract, American citizens have also criticized Elon Musk on social media over reports of a separate $38.5 million contract involving his other company, SpaceX.
