Three Pakistani cricketers have been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the tri-nation series match against South Africa at the National Stadium, Karachi. The incidents occurred during fielding and bowling, where Pakistani players engaged in heated moments with South African batters.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) found Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam guilty of violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
Shaheen Afridi Penalized for Obstruction
Pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi has been fined 25% of his match fee for deliberately stepping into South African batter Matthew Breetzke’s path during the 28th over of the innings in an apparent attempt to obstruct his run.
Saud Shakeel & Kamran Ghulam Fined for Aggressive Celebration
Batter Saud Shakeel and substitute fielder Kamran Ghulam have been fined 10% of their match fees each for their excessive celebration near batter Temba Bavuma after he was run out in the 29th over of South Africa’s innings.
All three players accepted their fines and apologized for their conduct.
The charges were laid by on-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Michael Gough, third umpire Richard Illingworth, and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi.
